A Monk Who Has Prayed at the Same Spot for 20 Years

June 20, 2012

And whoever seeks a religion other than Islam, it will never be accepted of him, and in the Hereafter he will be one of the losers. [Surah Al-i-Imran 3:85]

These footprints are believed to have been ‘carved’ into the floorboards by a Buddhist monk who has prayed at the same spot for many years

Hua Chi, who believes he is around 70 years old, says he has kowtowed at the same spot so many times that his footprints are imprinted on the wood

The monk and doctor of traditional medicine has been coming to the small temple in the monastery town of Tongren in China’s western Qinghai province for nearly twenty years

Every day, before sunrise, Hua arrives at the temple steps, placing his feet onto his footprints as he bends down to kowtow a few thousand times before walking around the temple
